Join us for a guided walk at Sunny Peace Prairie. Just north of town, this 75-acre property was saved from becoming a mining site thanks to the vision and generosity of a local family. They began the process of restoring the land and ultimately donated it to the Southern Wisconsin Land Conservancy. Today, visitors can explore scenic trails and relax on Leopold benches while taking in restored prairies, woodlands, and abundant wildlife—including Wisconsin’s third-largest shagbark hickory tree. At nearly 1,000 feet above sea level, the property’s highest point offers breathtaking panoramic views.
