A Two-Part Series sponsored by Wisconsin Prescribed Fire Council (WPFC), Pheasants Forever (PF), Lower Sugar River Watershed Association (LSRWA), Southern Wisconsin Land Conservancy (SWLC).
What to Expect: Classroom topics are presented live in an indoor classroom. Topics include fire ecology, tools, fuels & fire behavior, as well as safety and crew structures. A pen and notebook are encouraged for the Classroom Session, but bring your enthusiasm and excitement to learn & engage. For the Field Session, you will need to be wearing all natural fibers (wool, cotton, linen). Some Nomex PPE will be available to borrow. Please make sure you have a water bottle and snacks that you can bring out in the field with you. In order to execute prescribed burning training, a safe environment is key. Weather conditions such as wind, humidity, precipitation, and other factors are taken into consideration. If any of these factors are not met, the field session will be postponed to a “rain date” listed above.
